FAULT - Blower only works on speed 4

This is a fault diagnosis blog entry for my IVECO Daily Mk3 35S12 2.3 XLWB.
I present them in a set way so that f you have the same symptom you can find my fix for that problem.
It is formatted in three sections Fault Symptom, Fault Invest & Fault Fix. This will give you the freedom to read through or pick out the info you need more easily.
Remember: there is no one one answer to each problem (well not often) so although this might have fixed my problem, that isn't to say it will fix yours. Also I am no subject matter expert so I may not know a system to the highest detail.

Fault Sypmptom

The heater blower only operates when in speed position 4. All other positions, when selected, the fan does not operate.
You could argue position 0 is then working as that is supposed to be off but seriously shush.

Fault Invest

For this one you can pretty much skip to the fix but I will ramble here about some other stuff that might be of help if this doesn't fix your problem.
Now in theory if a fuse had blown the whole blower would not work but it is a free check even if we can discount it off the bat.
The motor could be an issue if it has degraded windings so it cant run slowly but that would be more intermittent.
Some kind of voltage leak could be a cause but i would expect the motor to only run slowly at position 4 and I'd be expecting shorting issues with blowing fuses or something else getting very upset so unlikely.
The selector could be at fault which is my second most likely fault with this symptom.

Fault Fix

The common culprit for this fault is the blower motor resistor and windings.
The unit gets condensation build up due to its location (especially true if someone has pulled the pollen filter out), corrodes and fails. A new unit is cheap and common to lots of different IVECO models.

the part number is: 500326616

The unit can be accessed by removing the glovebox then removing the units 1X torx screw, unplugging it from its wiring harness and pulling the module out of the blower housing.
Mine had rust on everything that could rust, it was toast. The pictured replacement unit was £16 from eBay and slotted right in.
Whilst you are there it is a good chance to clean out some dust and give some rarely seen wiring a cursory inspect then reassemble.
Job done; now enjoy 5 different settings of breeze with complimentary noise.
Of course it lasted for a year and blew again but it was a nice year...
New module installed things get dusty down here.
